Who in the world is Brent McCune?

Brent is loved by Jesus

Not a big deal when you consider how many others he loves. But a very big deal for me.

  • He has changed my past: He died in my place when I was his enemy, taking my shame as far as the east is from the west.

  • He has changed my present: He has removed the heart of stone from my flesh and given me a heart of flesh capable of loving and receiving love.

  • He has changed my future: He is coming one day to save me out of the body, this world, this mess and into a new world where all will be made new.

Brent has Crohn’s Disease.

I have had this disease my entire adult life with occasional remission. It has affected:

  • My body: I am limited in how much I can exert myself, recovery from intense activity can take days, weeks, or longer. On worse days, my coordination decreases. Side effects of pharmaceuticals cause anxiety and depression. On worse days, it is difficult to focus and make decisions. The long term side effects of the medicines I am necessarily taking do not lead to a good prognosis.

  • My family: I am thankful for every moment with my wife and four children, but my activities with them are shortened and limited. This is probably the most difficult parts for me.

  • My work: There are no fewer opportunities to minister but the nature of what I do has changed. In the past, I was a lead pastor and a worship leader. Full time work and activities that requires greater exertion are no longer possible for me. Creating this newsletter is one of the ways I am adapting to a new way of life and creating new streams of income to support my family.
